On October 29,
2011, the SE PA Cold War Historical Society attended the NADC/NAWC 15th Reunion Banquet.
The alumni kindly provided table space for us. Here’s a picture of Debbie Doerfel at our
table, signing alumni up for interviews!
Our group was asked to provide some remarks about our organization to raise awareness of our ongoing
efforts. Since kicking off our project in July 2010, we have interviewed over 40 individuals. Most were former employees of NADC/NAWC or at
NAVAIR at Patuxent River NAS, but we have also had the opportunity to speak with individuals who worked at the Navy’s Trenton Propulsion
Facility, the Frankford Arsenal, and even a few who were stationed at Nike Missile bases in the Delaware Valley.Following our remarks, we
presented a video highlighting some of our favorite interview “nuggets” from NADC/NAWC alumni.
The production was well-received by our audience, and dare we say… was a
bit of a “hit” at the event! We’re grateful to have had the opportunity to speak to so many who have made substantial contributions to
winning the Cold War… right in our own backyard!
Our oral history work is
far from complete! If you are interested in volunteering to assist us, please contact us at email@example.com.
Please return to this space periodically for updates on our activities. Thank you for
taking the time to visit us!
