Photo of the Brewster Aeronautical Corporation (background) and Corsairs built at the facility (under contract) in the foreground-- awaiting their test flights. The Brewster Corp was grossly mismanaged and was ultimately seized by the US govt during WWII after lack of fulfillment of aircraft contracts. The facility and grounds were given to the US Navy at the end of WWII and eventually became the Naval Air Development Center, which operated for 50 years as an R&D military center of excellence until its closure in 1996.
